Editorial feel, without the lengthy posing

Liz Martinez Wedding Dress Preparations

Candids with killer portraits

First of all - congratulations!

I specialise in 'candid wedding photography'. Lots of traditional photography is too stiff. It should be about capturing the real emotions of your day; all the smiles, all the tears - and all those dutch-courage dance moves!

‍But don't get me wrong, I also give you Pinterest-worthy portraits!

I don't believe in a 'one-size-fits-all' set list of images; your photographs should reflect your individuality, focusing on the natural moments & most importantly, having fun. For your portraits, I love capturing the in-between moments, when a pose falls apart.

I can work with you to plan any must-haves & then work the rest of the day capturing your natural smiles from a distance - you'll forget I'm even there! No really - my most common feedback is how discreet I am. You'll be able to look back at the photographs & feel the joy of real moments you might've missed on the day.

What to expect

I bring a sense of calm to your day; I don't interrupt your key moments with cheesy one-liners, I just capture you, your loved ones and everything that makes your day, yours.

You're probably nervous about the idea of a camera following you all day, how to pose or what to do with your hands - trust me, I get it. Think of me as editorial wedding photography for camera shy couples. Even for your portraits, I work in the most laid back way possible, spending 10-20 minutes away from your guests.

I love details; all the little things you'll spend months planning out and all the fleeting moments, like a subtle, reassuring hand squeeze before you go down the aisle.

You'll have preview images within 24 hours of your day and the full gallery within 4 weeks.

"Thank you SO much. I can’t believe how quickly you have got them to us!

We have spent all morning crying at these in the airport, they are absolutely gorgeous. You completely captured the essence of the day.

Thank you so much for making two very camera awkward people feel so comfortable and for being so lovely - you were a big hit with my family too!

FAQS

1 / What about the obligatory formal group photos?

Group shots are an important part of the day - especially for parents. Within your pre-wedding questionnaire, I provide space for a list - but I recommend you keep to a maximum of eight-ten group shots to make sure they don't take up too much time! As a rough idea, allocate 3-4 minutes per photography for moving people in and out (plus there's always someone MIA!). Ad-hoc ones can always be added on the day.

2 / when will i get my photographs and how many will there be?

I'll send you a few sneak peeks within 24 hours and aim to have your full gallery with you in no later than 4 weeks (often much sooner out of peak season). The amount of photos really varies wedding to wedding, depending on the structure of your day and the amount of guests attending, but for a full day of photography, you'll can expect a minimum of 500 final edited images (again, often much more towards the 1000 mark).

3 / what's your style?

The most common feedback I get is my calm and sometimes 'almost invisible' approach to capturing your day, making couples feel at ease. There's no 90's cheese or Chandler smiles happening here. I focus on documenting the natural moments, aiming not to take the wedding party away for too long. Even the Bride and Groom can be 'un-posed', finding a nice spot to allow you to enjoy a much needed moment to yourselves. This style is often also called 'candid wedding photography' or 'relaxed wedding photography'. That's not to say we can't get a few Pinterest-worthy portraits for you too. I follow the couple's lead in terms of what they are comfortable with - if that's running barefoot through fields or climbing clifftops, then great, I'll be there with you! If that's not your thing - also totally fine, I remain flexible to your preferences. My natural editing style is slightly warm and soft. You'll get some B&W ones included in your gallery too. In terms of wedding styles, I have two split sides. At heart, I'm a bit of a adventure-loving, country bumpkin so I do love anything outdoors and adventurous (I climbed to the top of a rock formation in my 3rd trimester for an engagement shoot), but then I also love that chic vibe - but most importantly I love to see all your personal touches and the love shining through. I've definitely shed many a tear behind the camera during speeches!

4 / i have more questions, how can I contact you?

Fill out the contact form and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
